協恩中學是傳統名校，學術與體藝並重，面試嚴謹且收生策略進取，重視學生成績與潛能。校園氛圍正面，學生歸屬感強，但活動多、功課壓力大。適合學術能力強、自律且能兼顧課外活動的學生。近年脫龍後收生更趨多元化，體育插班生有特殊渠道。
學生生活忙碌，運動隊幾乎每日訓練，合唱團及樂團每週一兩次，但學生享受團隊歸屬感。重視領導能力，如head perfect、班長等。校方對協小畢業生水平不滿，脫龍後只收約四成協小生。
中一科目多達16科，多科需考試，連家政也有厚書，功課多長題目，與小學要求差異大。活動眾多，副校建議最多參加三項，因需時間讀書；部分活動如drama、debate、choir耗時多。

辯論隊獲全港校際辯論賽冠軍，隊員詞鋒銳利、組織力強，反映培訓扎實。中一有約一星期適應課程。中一按成績分組，精英組有較多特別活動；主科小班教學，每班兩位英文老師，師生比約1:18。初中加STEM課程；主科按成績分組，其中三組為精英組；每科分A-D grade，B grade約等於DSE level 5。
