校風嚴謹，有「大埔監獄」之稱，不適合好動愛自由學生。2010年轉直資後學生質素提升，但中文班仍有成績差學生。2014年老師常致電家長溝通，多課外活動。2015年街坊指學生行為比區內其他津校好。2017年更換訓導主任，採取更嚴厲制度，銳意提升成績。
